The engineering, electrical and metal industry accounted for a total of 338'000 full-time posts at the end of 2011. This corresponds to 57.7 per cent of the employees in the processing industry. The highest proportion of individuals work in machines and vehicles production.

Cooperation
The study group for the training of members of representative departments of employees in the engineering, electrical and metal industry [Arbeitsgemeinschaft für die Ausbildung von Mitgliedern der Arbeitnehmervertretungen] (AAA) is an association for training representatives of employees on an equal footing.
