The centre of excellence for basic vocational training in the MEM industries

Swissmem’s vocational training school is the centre of excellence for basic vocational training in the MEM industries. It supports companies with a wide range of training programmes for apprentices and trained professionals.

Swissmem is committed to a modern vocational training framework. A high degree of practical relevance, efficiency and ease of access to further training are at the heart of its activities. At the same time, the continuous development of the dual vocational training system is a core interest.

Swissmem vocational training takes an active role in vocational competitions at the domestic (SwissSkills) and international (WorldSkills) levels. These competitions are ideal platforms for demonstrating the effectiveness of the dual vocational training system to a broad audience. The outstanding results achieved by the competitors from the MEM industries are a reflection of the high quality of training offered within these industries.

  • Developing and offering courses for companies providing training and for industry-wide training centres
  • Training of vocational trainers, expert examiners and teachers on professional regulations and qualification procedures.
  • Preparing teaching materials for vocational colleges
  • Advising companies providing training in all matters relating to the fields of mechanical engineering, design engineering, automation, electronic engineering and business administration (with a focus on industry) 
  • Offering course modules for specialist staff, technicians and engineers
  • Developing education regulations and training plans
  • Preparing, training and coaching talented individuals for national (SwissSkills) and international (WorldSkills) skills competitions
