The situation remains difficult for the Swiss mechanical and electrical engineering industries (MEM industries). Although revenues growth remained slightly positive during the first three quarters of 2012, new orders and exports declined significantly. Given the continuing strength of the Swiss franc and gloomy economic prospects in the major markets, the situation facing the MEM industries remains tense.
